Col Jordan's 'Totem Masks' on the walls

These stunning works are on the walls now for anyone who is walking by Dick Street and works can also be viewed here on our website. Jordan is one of Australia's most senior abstract painters and, now in his eighties, is producing fresh, vibrant works. These works are inspired by primitive masks, with their features and forms incorporated into Jordan's trademark colour and geometric patterns. The artist has exhibited widely throughout Australia and internationally and was featured in 'The Field', the NGV's inaugural exhibition in 1969, a show which launched the careers of artists including Sydney Ball, Alun Leach-Jones, Ron Robertson-Swann, Janet Dawson and many others. The NGV recreated the show, 'The Field Revisited' at Federation Square in 2018 and a contemporary audience was able to see the works installed as closely as possible to the original exhibition and marvel at how their relevance and energy were undiminished by time.

Michelle Perry Fine Arts hopes to exhibit Jordan's work, along with Penny Coss and Graham Kuo at Sydney Contemporary, 2021, now scheduled for November. Looking forward to sharing these artists' works with you all and to an end to Sydney's seemingly interminable lockdown.
